so i'm working in the public school system - i love it - i love being with the same kids everyday - i love learning about how to work with specific needs - i enjoy time spent with my co-teachers - they are knowledgeable and oh-so-patient with my learning as well as the students - there are things that are frustrating about public school - things that i am learning to work through - i want to be the best teacher i can be - i want these kids hearts and minds to be full of knowledge and joy - i'm "that" teacher - they say statistically teachers who have big aspirations burn out quicker - maybe i'll prove them wrong - the LORD put me here - in this class - in this school - my very special super duper friend tells me every time we talk that she can't wait to see what GOD is going to reveal to me - we'll see - in the mean time - remember me and my "kids" in your prayers - that we all learn and grow

twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

the stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
in hopes that st nicholas soon would be there.

the children were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.

and mamma in her ‘kerchief, and i in my cap,
had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

when out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
i sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
away to the window i flew like a flash,
tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

the moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
when, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer.

with a little old driver, so lively and quick,
i knew in a moment it must be st nick.
more rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
and he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

"now dasher! now, dancer! now, prancer and vixen!
on, comet! on, cupid! on, donner and blitzen!
to the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

as dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
so up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
with the sleigh full of toys, and st nicholas too.

and then, in a twinkling, i heard on the roof
the prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
as i drew in my head, and was turning around,
down the chimney stnicholas came with a bound.

he was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
and his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
a bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
and he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.

his eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
his cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
his droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
and the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

the stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.
he had a broad face and a little round belly,
that shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!

he was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
and i laughed when i saw him, in spite of myself!
a wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
soon gave me to know i had nothing to dread.

he spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
and filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.
and laying his finger aside of his nose,
and giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!

he sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
and away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
but i heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
"happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

san antonio!!

we met up with nana/papa and spent the weekend hanging out - eating great food

friday night we went to...

la fogata is known for their margaritas

saturday we started out at

naturally -being at the market - we ate here for lunch

saturday night we headed to the river

where we watched

more dinner!!

we had a fun time and it was super great to meet up with nana/papa!

this weekend we went to blanco state park in the hill country

- btw- the hill country is what led us to camping in the first place -

i love our camper

- in the words of the most wise ferris bueller -

"if you have the means - i highly suggest you pick one up"

and head straight for the hill country

naturally - the blanco sp is on the blanco river...

we fed the ducks

and sat and enjoyed the sounds of the river and the perfect day

at the edge of the sp backed up to some property that had...

if you ask my kids - his name is lorenzo - and if you have sirius radio and listen to the kidz channel in the morning - you'll know that lorenzo the lama does not like to be touched -

"don't touch the lama"

i'm assuming this goes for the dentist too

here's our camp site - i'm sure you can tell that all the sitting by the river feeding ducks and looking at lamas is quite exhausting...

then it began to rain - which just means more different kind of fun...

apparently - we made an extra special impression on this guy because he followed us home

daddy tried to teach him to sit...

and that it wasn't polite to "flap" at people...

then it was time to go home - and we thought -

hey! why don't we try this road.....

we saw this sign...

and this sign...

which led us to cross this...

but then we got to see this...

and a whole lot of this...

there's nothing like a back road!!!!

because we were in that vicinity -

we where able to stop and see the fam in r.r.!!!

- we had a great time and it was good to hang out

w/cousins aunts and uncles -

our next big adventure leads us to san antonio

- can't wait to spend time by that river either!!! -

our 1st stop is always the petting zoo

there's not another one like it!!!

we of course saw...

this weekend we set off to

lake mineral wells

we arrived late as usual but still managed to get a great site

these guys flew in and kept us company on saturday afternoon

- i told j.man maybe he shouldn't lay so still in the hammock!!! -

also on saturday we walked down into

"penitentiary hollow"

a ravine area used for repelling

it was great to back out there

we already have a site set up for october and are looking forward to our next get-away!!!

on the way there..

we have made this trip 4 times now & we have our preferred route our rr stops all mapped out

- but -

- and you know - everyone has a big but -

this time - i was on my own with the boys -

daddy had to stay home the first part of our trip so i was doing the driving

don't be too surprised when i say -

i was pretty amazing:-)

we left home around 4pm on friday

and passed through...

and

with virtually no incidents

-unless you count the entire chili's debacle-

which involves following a sign on the interstate and getting lost for about an hour and then finally saying SCREW THIS and eating at the sonic

i stopped in jackson mississippi for the night around 12:30 am - after having trouble getting off the freeway and onto the correct feeder road

- i can't get left -

the morning brought FREE BREAKFAST for kids under 12

guess what?

my kids are under 12!!!!!

it's very possible that they changed their policy after we left:-)

then off to...

and into.........

we made it to the house around 5pm

and WOW WEE NONNIE!!!!!!

once again - non out does herself with an amazing house for all of us to stay in during or vacation!!!!

the summer started off with j.man going to zoo camp....

and led right into nana/papa camp

where the boys - along with their n/p - went to the

athens fish hatchery...

went to the movies...

and visited n/p's favorite yogurt shop!

all the boys went to

The Historic Aircraft Memorial Museum (HAMM)

g.money won the "best landing" award

j.man won the "best crashing" award

on the flight simulator!!!

n/p camp included a trip to houston to see our uncle j....

who introduced us to authentic dim sum...

being in houston also means a trip to the museum

this year the boys went to the

where they got to see....

the boys returned home from n/p camp just in time for g.money's

ELEVENTH BIRTHDAY!!!!

which led to a trip to....

hey look!! it's us!!!

and of course birthday dinner at...

the week of g.money's bday he also attended...

for their summer youth program

lego battle bots!!!!!

each day the boys where given a task and then set up in pairs or groups to design a battle bot using legos that would best defeat the opposition and accomplish the goal....

some of the goals:

capture the flag; king of the hill; soccer game; lancing (i looked it up - it's a word)

which brings us to this week

g.money is at his first over night camp with our church...

the church is SO kind to post pics of the kids -

kicking off summer by floatin the river

last thursday was the

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!

so daddy and i packed up the camper and headed through the carpool line to grab the boys and head to...

-new bruansfels-

we've stayed at the rockin' r before and love camping on the river

of course we had to get in the water

the second our camp was set up!!!

we also had lots of friends and family meet up with us so we could

celebrate summer and daddy's 40th birthday!

saturday night we headed into gruen, texas...

and celebrated the "old man"

this is always a fun place to go with the kids

- lots of space to run and play...

then on sunday we all headed home but not until we stopped in at

driftwood, texas to savor the best bbq around

as always - the best way to kick off the summer

- in the camper with friends and family -

this weekend we were scheduled out the yazoo!

first we headed to pilot knoll to go camping...

we had loads of fun and lots of friends and neighbors showed up to play with us...

-but then-

we had to run home to throw the

BIG GRADUATION PARTY!!!!

these people are awesome

they brought laser tag and video games right to our very own yard...

then it was back to the camp ground so we could watch the fireworks...

the morning brought tubing with friends on the lake...

and the weekend ended with a picnic with the 2nd grade...

SO busy and SO much fun!!!

this weekend we headed out to oklahoma

our first stop along the way...

paris, texas

so we finally made it and set camp around 11pm

we when we woke up we were greeted with

the most beautiful view

so we had our coffee and breakfast peering out at God's glory

- then it was time to go and do some exploring -

but what is that i hear???

it's the ice cream lady!!!!!!

i scream you scream we all scream for ice cream!!!

once fully snack-ized - yes i am sure that is a word -

we headed to the forest heritage center and museum

- it being mother's day weekend and all -

mama took a big fat long nap while the boys hiked some trails and played on the playground

- yeah sorry -

no pics - i was too busy snoring!!!

- but -

when i woke up it was time to go swimming!!

do you think j.man has been waiting ALL DAY to go swimming?

we ate great food - built some great fires and were blessed with God's beauty

it was a excellent site and we hope to go back this summer

but sunday came and it was time to head out

- when we saw this -

so daddy took my computer to BB - you know - the electronics super store that's blue and yellow - the guys at BB took one look at my tower and said "hahahahahahahahah" and then when they picked their selves off the floor they recommended a whole new computer - so - now i have a new computer - which is GREAT - however - i am still trying to figure out how to work all this new technology - it's been 6-7 yrs since i had new stuff and ALOT has changed - bare with me while i get myself together

in the mean time....

g$ made AWESOME scores on both math and reading TAKs - commended in reading and points away from commended in math - we are so proud of him and i thank all of you who have prayed for the boys through out the years :-)

this weekend we went to cedar hill state park

it is an interpretation of
a tallgrass prairie farmstead from 100 years ago -

and OF COURSE we went to see it...

the park sits on joe pool lake - so naturally there is a marina...

we played on the dock...

fed the ducks...

played on the playground...

and chilled by the water...

we also took a small hike -

here's j.man waiting for us to get-it-in-gear...

i am always amazed at the fact that you can be in the middle of the city and still be in the middle of nowhere...

we brought in the new year w/party hats and fire works

the trip was awesome!!

on dec 28 @ 345 am we headed to the airport...

all ready and waiting for take off....

this is where the first of our "adventure" in traveling begins -

our plan was to fly to atlanta and meet up with the cousins - giving us just enough time to grab something to eat on the plane and then off to the dominican republic

-but-

when we arrived in atlanta we couldn't get to our gate due to a malfunction in the plane in front of us
-eventually-
we headed to a different gate

-but-

we were now officially late w/no time to do anything but run and pray we make the connecting flight -

-and-

we made it

-barely-

off to punta cana

-then-

we tried to land in punta cana

-twice-

each time the pilot had to pull out of the landing

each time you could hear the engines screaming and straining

each time my stomach ended up in my shoes

-then-

the pilot informed us that we had to reroute to santo domingo because of the wind shear

-which is at least a 4 hour drive if we have to travel over land to our hotel-

-in a 3rd world country-

-so-

we land in sant domingo

-but-

we are international

-so-

we can't get off the plane

-so-

we wait to refuel and for our new flight plan

-eventually-

we set off again this time actually landing in punta cana

-YEAH-

-WE MADE IT-

-but-
without daddy's, gmoney's and j.man's luggage!!!

-so-

we get through immigration/customs and catch the shuttle to the hotel

-which-

makes me SO happy that we did NOT have to drive to punta cana

- i'm pretty sure we "almost" ran over about 3 bicycle riders, 5 moped drivers and at least 2-3 pedestrians

-then-

we arrived @ the occidental

-and our travel worries ceased-

we spent our time hanging out by pool and playing at the beach...

for my next installment i'll cover entertainment and food!!!

so - g.money & j.man wrote notes to santa this year & asked for elves

- every day they pondered on the question - i wonder when our elves will get here -

so finally - santa BUCKLED & got the damn elves!!!

please notice that the elves are sitting on the boy's ds

- the elves report all "naughty" behavior back to santa & within minutes of receiving said elves both boys lost ds privileges for being "naughty"

of course he picked the MAC-DADDY of all colonials -
the first president of our newly formed nation...

this is somewhat out-of-order - but w/the 1st week of school & all -

i'm just now getting to our last weekend of summer fun!!!

we spent the last weekend of the summer camping in the hill country!!

we met the teachers and then jumped in the camper & headed to round rock to hang w/the cousins -

so after spending the night @ non's and seeing the cousins -

off we went to have lunch & one of the best bbq places in Texas...

after lunch - w/our stomaches fully distended!!!!

we hooked it to the the river -

we stayed at the rockin' r again - this place is awesome...

it was a fantastic end to a great summer - we can't wait to go back!!!

zoo camp - and a little extra

g.money and j.man started zoo camp yesterday! this is an annual summer "thing" that the boys love -

thank you nana/papa for another summer of awesomeness!!!:-)

g.money is starting the 5th grade in the fall so his class is an all day thing with an overnight on thursday night - but since j.man is starting 2nd grade he only goes half day

what to do with a 7year old for 4 hours....
