the last yahoo of the summer

we spent the last weekend of the summer just like we spent the first weekend of the summer -

we went camping!!!

we went to eisenhower state park - we've been here before but daddy says it doesn't count if you camp during a hurricane!!!??? :-)

we went on a couple of hikes -

on saturday we went to fossil ridge....

it's called fossil ridge because - wait for it -

it has fossils....

i love flowers in unexpected places....

the boys got all "tuckered" and had to take a rest...

but this was the view from our resting spot...

after our hike on saturday we had to go into to town to get a part for the camper - and as i'm sure you can imagine - the closest place to find the part was in oklahoma!!

so off we went on an excursion -

and naturally - as we do any time we leave the state -

we took our picture when we came home:-)

and i'm sure that you will all understand - that after a morning hike and an excursion to a WHOLE OTHER STATE - that i would need to take a nap :-)

but you can also imagine my surprise - when i wake up from my nap to this...

we only had 2 kids when i went to sleep - but when i woke up we had 7 -

how did that happen???
oh yeah - and a dog too

after the "locals" left - daddy and i made mexican chicken in the dutch oven - yummmie!!!

and g.money made a camp fire...

we woke up to a beautiful sunday morning and decided to take a stroll down by the boats...

but then i saw this...

and hey - look over here guys - aren't these pretty...

and isn't this a beautiful tree - what else is down this way....

and wow - would you check that out - that's really cool - i wonder where it leads - come on boys let's find out.....

ahhh - mama - we're tired...

2 hours later our "little morning stroll" seemed a bit longer than planned -

ooops :-)

well - we had fun didn't we!!:-)

now we are home and gearing up for the first day of school
