fun and sun in florida

we are back from our annual family destin trip - and we had a blast!!!

we met up with the cousins/family at dfw

and arrived in destin saturday evening
here is mellow yellow - our home away from home for the week

we spent lots of time playing.....

cooking....

and hanging out....

we also spent lots of time by the pool.....

and we made new friends....

when not swimming at the pool - or making new friends - we swam at the beach...

and made new friends...

we had our annual family dinner at aj's - yum...

and we hung out in the town of destin...

and ate even more yummie food...

and of course we saw pirates....

we also were able to watch the boat parade through destin harbor for the start of the "poker run"

and then - it was time to come home...

once again the magnificent nonnie will be taking all of the rugrats (and our rugrats) to florida - three cheers for nonnie!!!! YAY NONNIE! YAY NONNIE! YAY NONNIE! stay tuned for trip details and memories - when you think about it - prayers for safe travels would be appreciated:-)

uncle j and the children's museum

we LOVE our uncle j!!!!

we started a new "thing" last summer were we go to houston with nana and visit our uncle j at his office and then go to lunch - i'm not sure why - after the first time - uncle j said yes again this year - but he did

so uncle j took us down into the tunnels that run through downtown houston

we started at the yellow end and walked all the way to the red end

and took us to have asian style dumplings for lunch - yum!!

and because our uncle j rocks the house - he bought the boys ice cream for dessert

another thing we do while we are in houston is visit museums - this year we visited the houston children's museum

the boys had a blast - discovering, building, learning, exploring, racing, imaging, floating and having fun....

this museum IS NOT for the faint of heart!!!!

thank you nana/papa and uncle j for a great houston get-away!!!

hopefully uncle j doesn't get any wiser next year and we can come again:-)

trip to nana/papa's house

this weekend the boys and i went to nana/papa's -
here are the boy's driving papa's "mule" - j.man is riding"shotgun"

we went on an adventure to the "black lagoon" - which is a swampy/brackish spot where the boys love to explore...

after the "black lagoon" - the boys and i went off to explore at "crocodile lake"...

the boy's had several opportunities to see wildlife here...

by this time - the boys were filthy - so they decided to take a dip in n/p's pool....

swimming pools are a little different in the country:-)

this is what we were doing while the boys were swimming...

n/p have lots of birds in their "backyard" - and lots of bird feeders - nana doesn't like for the squirrels to come and eat because they eat everything leaving nothing for the birds - so j.man decided to "invent" a squirrel trap....

nuts wrapped in mesh and then tied to a string - dangling from a stick....

be sure to keep your eyes open for these in a store near you!!!!

next time i will blog about our day trip to houston where we ate with uncle j and visited the houston children's museum

tyler with the horton's

my sweet friend lili invited the boys and i to tyler for a little r and r

here's the cabin we stayed in - 2 adults 5 children

the kids all slept in the loft...

and had fun making their own pizzas for dinner...

on monday they took a walk to the park and back...

and we swam and swam and swam...
