"the scarecrow who wanted to be a man"

there once was an old scarecrow who was very lonely. he had no friends, no partner and no kids, he was so lonely. then he decided to talk to someone who was magic so he could get off the branches and become a real man. one day, mongo the wizard was passing through the scarecrow's field when he looked up and saw the lonely scarecrow. mongo told the scarecrow that he was a “wishing wizard” and then mongo asked him what was his wish. the scarecrow got his wish to get off the branches and become a real man. so he moved to town and got a family and lived happily ever after. but, he knew that if he ever wanted to become a scarecrow again, all he had to do was say “SCARECROW” and {POW!} he would be a scarecrow again.

halloween @ nana/papa's

nana's favorite holiday is halloween - so every year we have a pre-holiday bash @ n/p's house!!
we arrived late on Saturday because of soccer games but after a light dinner we got started with the holiday fun -
first we all sat around the fire pit and told scary stories and then the boys roasted marshmallows for smores...
then papa took the boys out to star gaze and to talk about space/shooting stars/comets/satellites...

and of course we had to love on boo-dog because he is SSSOOOOO sweet...

the next morning - after numerous adventures and the making of a "family project" scarecrow (post to come soon) the boys painted their pumpkins...

everyone got involved - here's papa helping with the paints...

here's nana filming the festivities...

and of course boo - who loves the attention....

j.man hard at work...

the artists - planning and designing...

masterpieces in pumpkin medium...

we had a great time - thanks for the pre-holiday fun n&p - y'all rock!!!

fall carnival

so NORMALLY i would not just say no but HELL NO to attending a carnival (aka:death trap on wheels) but the proceeds went towards a friends school pta and when it comes to education i'm a sucker!!!
here are the boys when they arrived - apparently they don't realize that they are standing at death's door!!!
the giant slide was fun...

but g.money preferred this twirl-until-you're-sick ride....

and j.man loved the pirate death trap - i mean ride...

seriously - do you see the man climbing up the side!!! he's "tweaking" the ride while in play!!!
you're going to tell me that it's not a death trap!!!

you know the boys loved every minute!!!

thanks for the invite lili - we had a blast!!!

love me some piney woods

our latest camping trip took us to east TEXAS and the...

mission tejas is a historic site that has been moved/replicated to commemorate what is believed to be the first spanish mission in east TEXAS

replica of the mission church....

the moved and rebuilt "rice" home - an important "way station" on the "old san antonio road" - mr. rice cut logs and then his wife - yes his wife - drug them back to the home site in order to build their home....

here is our actual camp site - it was chilly and damp but as usual we made the most of our time together:-)

the park has a nice play ground that the 3 boys enjoyed...

and of course we hiked - i love the smell of a pine forest...

during our hike the boys thought they should play some tricks of the eye...

have i mentioned that i love my family...
the camping queen herself...

some wildlife....

this is funny on several levels - say farkle...come on you know you want to - see it's funny...

plus we had spent the evening before playing this roll playing game -
come on - say it again - see - funny.....

we also had a chance to see some caddoan temple mounds...

another fabulous thing about going to east TEXAS is the trip home took us with-in miles of our nana/papa's house so we got to stop in for a quick visit before heading home...

super great family times - can't wait for the next trip...
