love me some piney woods

our latest camping trip took us to east TEXAS and the...

mission tejas is a historic site that has been moved/replicated to commemorate what is believed to be the first spanish mission in east TEXAS

replica of the mission church....

the moved and rebuilt "rice" home - an important "way station" on the "old san antonio road" - mr. rice cut logs and then his wife - yes his wife - drug them back to the home site in order to build their home....

here is our actual camp site - it was chilly and damp but as usual we made the most of our time together:-)

the park has a nice play ground that the 3 boys enjoyed...

and of course we hiked - i love the smell of a pine forest...

during our hike the boys thought they should play some tricks of the eye...

have i mentioned that i love my family...
the camping queen herself...

some wildlife....

this is funny on several levels - say farkle...come on you know you want to - see it's funny...

plus we had spent the evening before playing this roll playing game -
come on - say it again - see - funny.....

we also had a chance to see some caddoan temple mounds...

another fabulous thing about going to east TEXAS is the trip home took us with-in miles of our nana/papa's house so we got to stop in for a quick visit before heading home...

super great family times - can't wait for the next trip...
